(from our announcement)
Please join us in welcoming
Titus Allen Lanting! God has graciously
given us a son. Titus means “defender, honorable” in Latin. Allen means
“rock, noble” in Gaelic. Allen is a family name on both sides of our families
(3 generations). We like the name Titus primarily due to our appreciation of
the book of the Bible written to an early leader in the Christian church by that
name. The Titus of the Bible was a young man who ministered with the apostle
Paul and was known for his leadership and ability to encourage and
comfort.
Titus chapter 3:4-7 says,
“But when the goodness and loving
kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by
us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of
regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly
through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might
become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
These
verses show why we love this book, God is our Savior! The Bible is clear that
we are all sinners, we need a savior, and guilt over our sin demands justice.
The Bible says that “the wages of sin is death.” This means that the punishment
that we deserve because of our sin is death. The amazing thing is that God saved
us by sending his own Son to take our punishment and die in our place. Another
thing that this passage tells us is that salvation is a free gift. Our
salvation is not earned by our good works, but comes by God’s mercy. God offers
salvation to whoever will believe in Jesus.
Salvation means that we are freed from our guilt and sin, and given
eternal life with God in heaven.

Titus was born 6/19/12 at 7:50am by c-section. He weighed 9lb 3oz and is 21" long. His head circumference is 14.5 inches - yikes! He has blonde hair like both his grandfathers and all his cousins. :) He is a great eater - quite different than his sister was. This delivery was far better than last time and I am confirmed the recovery will be so much quicker also. Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement!
